The Lost Boys

"Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. Its fun to be a vampire."

Opening image: The first part of the movie where we see the poster that says Santa Clara is the happiest place on earth, on the back it says the murder capitol of the world.

Theme Stated: You shouldn’t kill people

Set-up: Michael is hanging out with the other vampires

Catalyst: Michael drinks the blood and becomes a vampire.

Debate: Michael wonders if he should jump off the bridge or not.

Break into two: Michael starts floating around and tries to kill his vampire

B story: Lucy is in love with the head vampire.

Fun and Games: The frog brothers are trying to figure out who the head vampire is.

Midpoint: The frog brothers go into the vampires’ hideout and kill one.

Bad guys close in: The vampires going to come and kill them in their house.

All is lost: Sam calls his mom and his mom doesn’t believe him.

Dark Night of the Soul: They know they are trapped in the house.
Break into three: Sam and the Frog brothers decide to set up booby traps for the vampires and fight them.

Finale: They kill all of the vampires.

Final Image: The old grandpa says “it’s a nice place to live but there is to damn Vampires.”

The Lost Boys was a vampire movie centered around teens. It also isn't the very scariest horror movie that was made, but it was still good. Another thing that was pretty obvious was the 80s hairstyle with mullets and all. The mix of comedy and horror mix really well in this movie with the comedic antics of the Frog Brothers and the horror of the vampires.

The focus of The Lost Boys was basically centered around the Emerson Family. Lucy, the mom, has just split up with her husband and moved to Santa Carla with Michael and Sam, her two sons, with their grandpa. Michael sees a pretty woman named star and follows her around. He gets introduced to her "Fam" and eventually turns into a vampire. Didn't his mom tell him not to wander off with strangers?

This movie was really good and entertaining. It had a lot of comedy and such in it along with horror. This is one of those movies that would actually be entertaining to watch over and over again. Another thing I liked about this movie is that their was a good twist, the person that you think is the head vampire really is not the head vampire. Another great thing was the awesome fight at the end. :)

Its Renaissance time!

"Follow the ninja he knows where to go"

I went to the renaissance festival yesterday and had a blast. There were many events there such as: Jousting, Artillery shows, archery, camel riding, and elephant riding. There were many awesome things to do there there that could entertain people for days, especially all the great Renaissance actors.

While I was there I saw a rock climbing thing. The great thing about this rock climb was that if you could reach the top you could win $20. Unfortunately, I did not have enough money to pay to climb the rock. I saw plenty of people try to climb this rock and all of them could not get passed the first rock. I thought I could have climbed that rock if I was given the chance, it's probably a good thing I did not try it though.

The actors that played as a Renaissance person were very entertaining, especially the shop stall owners. They had very entertaining ways of getting people to buy the stuff that they are selling. One time when I went by one of these shop stall people he started yelling at me to buy his jerky. It was like I was obligated to buy it. Maybe the Renaissance people know something that we don't?

Overall I thought the Renaissance festival was really fun. Even though most of the shops were closed because it was a school day it was still good, I would have liked to see the "Throwing axe" game open, obviously that could have been dangerous on a school day. I also would have liked to have some of the prices to have been lowered, I think that water being $2.50 is a little overpriced. I would definitely go back next year when I can.

Psycho review

Opening image: Marion Crane is making out with her lover.
Theme Stated: Do not be greedy and money can not buy off happiness
Set-up: The lady decides to take the money
Catalyst: the lady leaves and runs away with the money.
Debate: she is driving and she is wondering if she should go back or not.
Break into two: She arrives at Bates motel and talks to Mr. Bate
B story: Her sister decides to come up there and search for her.
Fun and Games: She gets killed and everyone starts looking for her.
Midpoint: Her sister and detective came to look for her.
Bad guys close in: The sister and detective go inside Mr. Bates’ house.
All is lost: they find out that she is dead.
Dark Night of the Soul: They are trapped in the house.
Break into three: decides to look inside the house
Finale: Stops Mr/Mrs. Bates from killing the sister.
Final Image: Mr/Mrs. Bates is sitting in the prison.

Psycho

Psycho was a great horror/slasher movie. It was really creepy and crazy. Even though it was in black and white, it used this perfectly. They used great lighting effects to make this amazing movie in greater. This movie was also the first movie to actually kill somebody when they were totally exposed and vulnerable and without and clothes on.

Eventually things start to heat up when Marion's friends get a little suspicious and wonder where she is. What they do not know is that they will not find her because she is sitting in the trunk of a car on the bottom of a swamp. What a good waste of a car I would have just thrown the body in the swamp, not the car too.

Alfred Hitchcock is a master at what he does. He made a great movie that is impossible to forget about. The great thing about this movie is that it could have a inspired great twists like when Darth Vader said "I am your father". Even after watching it multiple times the story is still great and was still a thrill. Even though this film really isn't bloody and gory it still has enough to entertain the most avid gore movie watcher. I give this movie a rating of 9/10

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Josh and I watched Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 4, Episode 10, "Hush". In this episode the whole town of Sunnydale goes silent due to the strange creatures called "The Gentlemen". The first time we see these strange creatures is when Buffy has a dream while in class of a girl singing a song. This song describes exactly what The Gentlemen want, before the song is over a Gentlemen pops up unexpectedly and scares the audience. while at first we do not get a good look at these strange and unusual creatures, we eventually get a better look.

This episode was an amazing episode due to the entire episode basically being a silent type movie. The actors had to find a entire different way of communicating with each other during the making of the movie. It consisted of hand gestures and it was basically a big charades game. Another great feat that this episode had to overcome was how would The Gentlemen float above the ground? Well the only way to overcome this was to have a giant crane carry them through the town.

This episode was really good and I really liked it. It had a lot of good scary moments where The Gentlemen pop up. Another reason why it was scary was because of the actual look of The Gentlemen. These guys look so scary that you could get nightmares. Overall I thought this episode was really good and I would give it a 10/10.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Halloween

Buffy the Vampire is a highly recognized series. Many vampire and vampire slayer fans go crazy over this series. In this episode, Buffy (Sarah Michelle) involuntarily volunteers to supervise little children and go trick or treating. While they are walking around getting candy from the houses the costumes they are wearing turn them into the actual monsters. Buffy turns into a princess while Xander Harris (Nicholas Brendon) turns into a soldier, this is bad because Buffy doesn't really know who she is and Ethan Rayne (Robin Sachs) is the cause of all this terror. Like all stories they always have a purpose and a message, the message in this particular show was, you should not pretend to be what your not in order to impress someone that you love. This is a great message to send to teens because they are always trying to be who they are not and change their personality.

I really enjoyed this show, it was really entertaining and full of suspense and drama. This show had a equal amount of action scenes and love scenes. This show was one of the best shows I have ever seen. It has a good blend of scariness and suspense which makes it really good. I would rate this show as a 10/10

Nosferatu

Beat Sheet for Nosferatu

Opening image: Jonathon looks at himself in the mirror.
Theme Stated: Do not worry about the stories of the vampires
Set-up: Meet the wife and a old guy, also meet Nosferatu.
Catalyst: Jonathon cuts his thumb. Nosferatu smells the blood.
Debate: Whether or not he should continue staying there.
Break into two: He goes into Transylvania.
B story: Love between Nina and Jonathon.
Fun and Games: Run away from Nosferatu.
Midpoint: Nosferatu gets on the boat and travels away.
Bad guys close in: The police come and come across the dead bodies.
All is lost: Nosferatu is on the loose and inside the buildings.
Dark Night of the Soul: The plague is here and he is supposed to stay in the house.
Break into three: Jonathon realizes he needs to use Nina to kill Nosferatu.
Finale: Nina sets up Nosferatu and he dies
Final Image: Seeing Jonathon hold Nina as she lays there dead.

Nosferatu was a creepy Dracula movie staring Jonathan Hutter (Gustav Von Wangenheim) and Nosferatu (Max Shreck). Jonathon was told by his boss that Count Orlok wants to buy a house and wants Jonathon to go to his castle to close the deal. While his was there he stops at a inn and tells the owners where he is going. The people there react in horror and tells him not to go. While Jonathon is in his room he finds a book about about vampires that warns him about Nosferatu. The next morning Jonathon travels to the castle and meets Nosferatu. After Jonathon cuts himself Nosferatu tries to lick his finger while repeatedly saying "Blood!!!". The next morning Jonathon finds out that he has two bite marks on his neck and feels really ill, he eventually realizes that these bites are vampire bites. In the end Jonathon kills Nosferatu by luring him to his wife and keeping Nosferatu there until the sun comes up.

Nosferatu was an OK movie, I think it would have been better if it actually had words and not a silent movie. To me I think that all silent movies are really boring. This movie was also in black in white which increased the difficulty to understand the movie. I was able to follow the movie for the first half of the video; after a while though I just could not keep up with it. If you are into black and white silent films this would probably be a perfect movie for you, but I do not think that this movie is really worth buying or renting. I would give this movie a 3/10.

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

"They're coming to get you Barbra."

As a movie that was on a very low budget this movie was really good. The Night of the Living dead starts out with Barbra (Judith O'Dea) and Johnny (Russell Striener) driving to see their fathers grave. While they were at the grave a frightening man kills her brother and Barbra retreats to a farm house. After a little bit a black guy, Ben (Duane Jones), comes to help protect Barbra from the "Assassins". Ben has already encountered these ghouls at a gas station earlier that day, so he is perfect for the job. They encounter Harry Cooper (Karl Hardman), a extremely bossy and irritating man that thinks that they should retreat into the basement and Tom (Keither Wayne), a very helpful and obedient man that helps protect the house. Ben also meets Helen Cooper (Marilyn Eastman) and find out that she has a daughter that has been bitten by one of the ghouls and is now infected and slowly turning into one of them which heightens the tension in the house. Ben and Tom eventually fix up a television and find out that there is a rescue center. Eventually the Ghouls do actually break into the house and the gang has to retreat to the basement where they are safe.

This movie was really excellent, especially considering the time period it was made in. Another thing that made this movie good is that it had a lot of good camera angles. It also used good lighting techniques to make the movie seem scarier than it would have been if it was just plain light. Another thing that I liked about this movie was that it was a good horror movie. It had a monster, a confined space, and a sin, these are the key elements that make the movie really good. The only problem I had with this movie was the fact that when it was dark outside, the live news cast showed that it was light. Overall this movie was really good and not as scary as you may think, I would recommend this to anybody and a rating of 9/10

"Welcome to Macintosh"

unlike my friend tanner i thought the movie was kind of long and mediocre. There were some interesting facts like how the computers have advanced through the centuries. The computers they originally made only had about 16k memory and 30mb ram for them it was the most amazing thing in the world but now its nothing compared to the computers today. on more than 1 occasion apple almost went out of business but they always managed to pull through inventing new computers and new technology. the documentary explains a lot of how the company was started and who started it (Steve Jobs)i found it interesting that when Steve jobs left the company struggled but when he came back the company thrived again.I think they spent too much time on (Wayne Bibbens) the guy they interviewed that collected way too many apple computers.I think they should have just showed a few of his computers and moved on. even though the document had lots of interesting facts i still would only give it a 3/5.

white guys cinema review on "welcome to Macintosh"

i think the people form "white guys cinema" did a great job covering the important details about the "welcome to Macintosh" documentary without giving away to much information.
-josh

"hardcore movie nerds" review on "Welcome to macintosh"

I did not like this review very much. One thing I did not like was the grammatical errors, one part of the review was very hard to follow. This review is also really short and does not have very many facts on why they hate it. I think they just wrote something that was easy and short so that they could get done and talk and play around. They should give better example of why they hate this movie instead of "retarded movie that we sall in class"

"White Guys Cinema" review of "Welcome to Macintosh"

The review that Nick and Ryan did was very good. It hit most of the key points that the movie was about, and it was very interesting. It also did not give to much information out and did not ruin the movie, but it gave just enough information so that the reader could understand what they were talking about even without watching the movie. There was a lot of facts in their review and also gave their personal opinions on the movie.

"Welcome to Macintosh"

"Good artists copy, great artists steal"
The apple documentary "Welcome to Macintosh" was very intriguing, and insightful. This movie had a lot of interesting facts. One thing that I thought that was cool was that Microsoft gave Apple $150 million dollars to help keep Apple alive and not go bankrupt, they realized that if they wanted to be number one, they do not need to beat Microsoft, they just need to become really good. Steve Jobs, one of the first owners of the Apple company never intended to sell the computers, they were just going to give them away.

They eventually went to Minnesota and actually found someone that wanted to buy the computers. The first computers that were made was called "Apple II". Apple had many complications, but even with these complications they still overcame and turned out to be a very successful company. This documentary had many people that worked with the company, being interviewed and giving information about how apple has expanded over the centuries. This movie had a lot of funny parts as well that I liked. This one part of the movie, one of the designers of apple was saying "engineers are retards". I think this movie deserves a 3/5, although this movie did seem a little long and was kind of boring at times.

Dr. horrible's sing a long blog

"I'm going to introduce her to the hammer. And these are not the hammer..."
Josh and I watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. This movie stars Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible, Felicia day as Penny, Nathan Fillion as The Hammer, and Simon Helberg as Moist. the great acting of these actors made this movie one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. The great thing about this movie is that it is only 45 minutes, as a person that does not like sitting still for a long time I find this very good.

This movie is about Dr. horrible (Neil Harris) and his obssession in getting into the "Evil League of Evil" and trying to get the attention of his crush Penny (Felica Day). Unfortunately, his evil nemesis "The Hammer" (Nathan Fillion) complicates this by watching Dr. Horrible's blog and begins to date Penny. Dr. Horrible realizes that The Hammer is dating Penny and gets jealous, and tries to win penny back by killing "The Hammer". *SPOILER* Unfortunately this does not work and ends up killing Penny.

There was action, comedy, and suspense. We think that the singing was pretty good, they stayed on cue and made the movie really funny. The special effects were good too, in one part of the movie Dr. Horrible shot the freeze ray at Captain Hammer, the ray had good effects and made the ray look real. The acting was good, the actors seemed to know their parts, and they spoke clearly and easy to understand what they were singing or talking about. Overall this movie was good, we would recommend this movie to young adults around 13 or older.

"I think it was a pretty good movie, I'd recommend to almost everbody."
-Josh

Whiteout

This movie was not all that great. The story line wasn't all that great, and the acting was a little bland, the main character seemed like she was reading a script the whole time. This movie kind of reminded me of a cheesy thriller from the 80's. It was sort of like Scooby-Doo acting. This movie was supposed to be a thriller but, Kate Beckinsale, the main character, had playfully bad acting, and the people around her were stripping and running through the ice, setting the movie into more of a comedy than a thriller. Another thing I did not like about "Whiteout" was that it did not have any really scary monster. The worst thing about this movie was during the fight scenes, you could not tell who is who and what going on. It is very unclear about what is actually happening in this movie and has a horrible story-line. I would probably give this movie a rating of 2/5.

Who we are.
